Recounts about Regional Robotics Competition
This past Saturday Auroa Primary School had five teams competing in the Junior Robocup. This competition is the regional competition for the Junior Robocup of which Auroa is the defending New Zealand and Australian Robotics Champions. Auroa were able to continue their dominance at regional level and now look forward to travelling to the Nationals in September in Christchurch. As always we would like to show the performances however some of the aspects of the performances are best kept for the nationals. In the meantime these recounts were written about the event:
Mackenna: "On Saturday the 28th of June it was the Junior Robocup regionals. There was 6 teams in theatre and 21 teams in rescue. We had to get there by 8:00 AM. Which was quite early. Then we had a start at 10:00 AM. Once we had finished, we had waited about 10 minutes. Then it was prize giving. They said thanks for coming, and then they started. In 3rd place was the Robros. Then in 2nd place it was the Udder-Budders. Then in 1st, it was the JKLMinaters. After they finished of the rescue. For me it was a scary experience because we hadn't quite finished our program, and I was nervous about the interview, but both turned out quite fine because the interview went great and we also got 3rd!"
Bye the end robros got third udder butters got second and JKLMinaters got first.

R3 MOA Awards Photographic Ideas
Coming up in Term Four Auroa Primary School has a special occasion - the MOA Awards. The awards involve a huge night for our school at the Opunake Events Centre. Mr Bloor - our amazing Video Creation Expert published this fantastic highlights video from last year featuring some amazing students who you might recognise! One of the competitions that our students will be involved in is the Photographic Competition - and although entries aren't due in until next term we wanted our students thinking and taking advantage of situations as they arise. The task initially was for our students to take two photos a day apart to show the difference in light...

The second half of the game the Hurricanes got another try and they got the conversion over so that led the hurricanes to 21-13 and that was the final score.

Can you help Zariah identify this pound coin?
If you know what the name of this Bridge on this One Pound Coin please Comment? (If you can?)
On Sunday I found a One Pound Coin, laying on the Floor on our hallway, I didn't know what type of One Pound it was, but then I thought of bringing it to School, because we have been looking at some classrooms, and we came across a Class in England using pounds in their description of a post they wrote using pounds on their classroom blog.
Today, Me and Mackenna went out and toke some photos around school with the One Pound Coin.

What we know about Canada...
We're always looking for collaboration opportunities with classrooms around the world. We've just made communication and started interactions with Mrs Grosfield and her class from Canada. Today in class we brainstormed what we knew about Canada in class.
What do we know about Canada?
What do we know about Canada?
- The Maple Leaf is on the Canadian Flag
- The Moose is the native animal of Canada
- Bethany's Aunt was born in Canada and is a famous Ice Skater
- Maple Syrup is from Canada
- In Canada they drive on the right hand side of the road
- Ice Hockey is the national sport of Canada
- They have McDonalds, KFC and Carls Junior in Canada
- Maple Syrup is made from the Maple Tree or is it made from raw sugar?
- Do they play American Football in Canada?
- Do they play Rugby in Canada? Do they have a Women's Rugby Team?
- Canada is the 2nd largest country in the World? Is there 80 million people in Canada? Is it 6/7 times larger than New Zealand?
We we surprised to learn that Canada is the second largest country in the world on the basis of country size and is nearly 37 times bigger than New Zealand!

Mrs Crain's Procedural Writing Task for Room Three
At the end of last month to finish off procedural writing in class Room Three asked our learning network for suggestions of instructions that we could follow to complete a task. Mr Crain, a teacher from Iowa, USA went out of her way to help up. She produced a Google Slide about how to make a Transforming Star complete with each of the steps and a series of pictures that explained each step. Yesterday Room Three took up the challenge and spent a block following her instructions to complete the task. We used our prior knowledge as well because we had two students who have completed the task before. We used additional media too for the students who were having a bit of difficulty we found instructional videos to guide us through the process. Our students had a whole lot of fun and we able to evaluate the procedural writing from another teacher in another country and we enjoyed the challenge of the task. Thank you Mrs Crain.

Ashton has crated some fantastic posts in 2015, related to his farming experiences here in South Taranaki and detailing some of the creatures he's found on his farm. This latest post, about the shifting on his farm of the Muscovy Ducks is probably his best post yet. You can click on the link to his amazing blog here.
