R3 Crowley Cup Vs. Opunake Highlights

On Friday Auroa School travelled to Opunake Primary School to compete in the Y5/6 Crowley Cup Competition. This was a series of important games for Auroa - the Boys Rugby team were undefeated for the season except for a narrow defeat to Eltham. Victory against Opunake on Friday would mean Auroa would qualify for the Semi-Finals of the competition. These highlights were put together by Tiani and Paige.

Open spaces at Auroa Primary School.

Yesterday we looked at 'rush hour traffic' outside Auroa Primary School and in the second part Paige decided to show off our school fields so it gives our friends an idea of how big it is and how much space that we have. You can click on the link to their class page here.   The video was put together by Paige including all editing and publishing of credits.  Filmed at Auroa Primary School, Taranaki, New Zealand on Tuesday 8th March 2016.

Rush Hour at Auroa Primary School

We recently collaborated with the students from 4A from the Australian Independent School in Jakarta, Indonesia.  While we were talking with them we discussed how big our areas around our school was.  Jakarta has around 15 million people living in it.   After we spoke both classes used Google Earth to check out their school and they looked at ours.  That got us thinking about traffic, so Paige and Kadian, supervised by Mrs Auld, went outside our classroom, outside our school by the front gates and filmed the traffic chaos outside Auroa Primary School during the middle of the day.

Monarch Butterfly by Paige

Over Christmas we had Monarch butterflies arrive on our Swan Plants (milk weed). So I decided to photograph the stages that they went through. First the Monarch lays its eggs and lots of hungry caterpillars hatch out. It takes about four days to hatch out of the eggs. They ate all the leafs. After two weeks they turned into chrysalis. It took them ages to turn into butterfly. They came out and dried their wings and flew away. These are the photos that I took of what happened.

Robotics: 2015 Sumo Challenge Highlights

Room Three has six students who are featuring as part of the Auroa Primary School Robotics Program. The students in this program meet every Tuesday from 2pm to 5pm. The students are preparing for a competition against three other local schools as part of the MOA Kluster - Matapu, Kaponga and Opunake. Two of the students from the program, Zariah and page decided to show our audience what's going on. They recorded this footage and today in class produced an iMovie showing whats happening. This slideshow also includes footage of the sumo bots in action - you can see two of the robots battling at just past the one minute mark. Fantastic work from two of our wonderful students. You can also visit Zariah's Blog by clicking on the link here or see what Paige has been up to by visiting her page here.

Paige's Amazing Holiday

Paige from Room Three has been lucky enough to have just come back Raratonga in the Cook Islands. She spent some time on holiday but also spent some time working hard. She made an amazing iMovie of her adventures with the help of Quade and Harry, which includes pictures that she took and video of some of the cultural performances. This is her recount about the trip.

Thump thump the plane had landed! After three hours on the plane it was cool there was a TV on every chair I got to play with it because there was games on it and we could play music and movie too. It was boiling hot once we had hopped off the plane.

Then we had a look around on the island on a bus. That night we got to have a swim, the pool was refreshing. Nana and Aunty jumped in the pool with their clothes on.

We got dressed up and headed for breakfast waiting for another adventure. Me and Dad went to Kids Club and we made a sarong.

That night we went to a show it was an island dance. We watched the performance. There were two guys doing a fire dance. It was awesome.

The next day we went to the Spa. I got my nails done and I was allowed to have a massage. That night I got a three hour swim.
