Auroa Primary School Scotland Brainstorm
Today students returned from our end of term one break. As part of our learning this term we were looking at schools, classrooms and students who have contacted us during our break. One of our collaborations is with the students from Scotland. As part of that collaboration we decided to brainstorm what we knew about Scotland. Our students were placed in groups, collaborated with each other to check their information and then came up with this. How accurate is it? Do you know additional information about Scotland? Is there anything on the list that is not correct?

Well done Room 1, you have quite a number of things on your list. I was born in Scotland so I was very interested to read about what you knew. Loch Ness is a really interesting place; the water in the loch is actually black when you look at it. There is lots of peat around the loch and I was told this is what makes the water black and therefore you cannot see very much when you are diving or swimming. When documentary makers were making videos to try and catch a glimpse of the monster they had to use huge underwater lights. An interesting fact... The most famous photo of the Loch Ness monster has actually been proven to be a fake!!! It is actually an elephant swimming through water with only it's trunk visible.

ReplyDeleteOur class thinks this is a really good project to show what you were thinking about each other. We are curious to know what haggis is and what it tastes like. We are also wondering what kind of holidays are celebrated in your countries. Do you have a symbol like our Santa Claus?
