MOA Awards: Guest Post from Room Eight

Auroa Primary School has many different classrooms with blogs and fantastic student work - we've just had the MOA Awards which has been amazing, and this was the showcase for so many students to share their fabulous work with our community. We've been watching other classrooms efforts - if you haven't seen Room 8@Auroa Primary School you need to see their amazing work - we watched this video, a parody of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' created by the awesome students and teachers. You can click on the link to see some of their awesome work here. Well done everyone!

MOA Awards: Best Junior Music Video

On Tuesday night at the Opunake Events Centre we had over 500 people attending our Digital
Awards for the MOA (Matapua, Opunake and Auroa Schools) Cluster of Schools.   There was some amazing work on display, one of which was the Best Junior Music Video.  This was created by students from R8 at Auroa Primary School who are year one students (five years old).  They did an amazing job and Lauren also managed to get best Actress for her efforts.  You can click on the links to the fantastic Room Eight site by clicking here.

Buddy Maths with Room 8

Every Friday the students of Room One spend half an hour engaging with Buddy Maths with a student from our Junior School (Room 8).  Our students pair up and look at teaching strategy to another student and then we discuss and analyse whats gone in back in Room One.  Students from Room One are looking at building their relationships with juniors and also developing their Mathematical thinking and looking at how others see things.

Buddy Maths with Room Eight

On Fridays for the next few weeks the students from Room One are very lucky to be working with a buddy Maths classroom, Room Eight. We are helping the students of Room Eight with their counting, addition and subtraction. They are helping us to understand learning styles and strategies better and to be reflective learners. These images are from the first session which took place in Room One on Friday 25th July 2014.
