Kaiah - Dark Horse: Best MOA Awards Music Video
In the 2014 MOA Awards we had some students from Room One who did exceptionally well. Emily as you know was one of four Room One Finalists for 'Senior Student Blog of the Year' and the eventual winner. We also had Kaiah as a finalist in that catergory, and also for Best Senior Music Video - a catergory that she won against some great competition. This is the award winning entry that she created and starred in, which qualified her for the grand prize.

Calf and Lamb Day 2014
Not only was it the most important show day at Auroa Primary School this year its probably the event that has generated the most questions and interest from our visitors around the world: Calf and Lamb Day. To view a recount of the entire day from the perspective of a student entering a calf click on the link to Alice's blog here. To read about the Championship winning Senior Lamb you can click on the link to Emilys Blog (which will shortly reach the mark of 10,000 pageviews for the year!) here. You can also see a photo of the reserve (runner up) lamb by clicking on the link to Lucas's blog here. You can read Izzy's recount about being in the Calf competition here.
The slideshow that you can view below here is of some of the art activities that students from Auroa Primary School were involved in this year. In each classroom students had to produce four pieces of art for judging. The 'Snail' picture that you can see on this post is Riley P's prize winning snap. Calf and Lamb Day 2014 Art on PhotoPeach

Auroa Primary School Repurposing Market Day
Today Auroa Primary School held their Re-Purposing Market Day. One of our students, Emily, whose had nearly 8,000 pageviews on her student blog, wrote this recount and created this slideshow about the event. You can source the original post on her blog here.
Today was a very important day for our school, our unit topic for this term is "Re-purposing - the art of turning something old and making it new again" Every student enjoyed it but without a doubt the best part for me was the market day. At the start of term we all chose a re-purposed product that would be thoroughly tested and tried over the next few weeks. Our group chose an original idea called "Drinking Jars"
We thought our idea was pretty cool. Everyone must have thought so too because the customers kept pilling in so much that we actually sold out in a matter of minutes! However there are also many other businesses and classes that need to be credited for their hard work and dedication. Here is a slideshow with a few photo's capturing the day in all it's glory.

The Concept-
It was made of a Re-purposed jar, taped with a stripy design and then spray painted, once you peel the tape off it reveals a nice design we then drilled holes into the lids and added a straw. Afterward we filled it with juice for our customers. But the great part is, it can be used again, and again, and again! We thought our idea was pretty cool. Barefoot at School In Auroa, New Zealand
As part of the #2014gbc (Global Blogging Challenge) we've been asked to create a lesson this week for our global audience. Yesterday in class the students had to plan a film which was targeted at being between thirty and forty five seconds in length, taught a lesson and reflected something that was unique to New Zealand. The video was created by Emily, Izzy and Gemma and came about from a comment we've had about our students in New Zealand having bare feet at school. Planning and storyboarding took place yesterday afternoon and this morning. The students also fully edited the project and produced it themselves.
