Auroa Primary School - R1 Written Language Tasks

Hello students in Room One.  Myself and Mr Chittenden have enjoyed watching your postings from Singapore and have had an opportunity to talk about your work and share you work with educators from around the world.  You can see footage of the trip from Singapore here on the school page.

Facts about Sydney.    You need to get your facts about Sydney and Australia posted so we can notify the class from Australia so they can come and check.  We would like you to publish this task on your own blogs by using Haiku Deck to do so.   When this is finished, you need to invite the students from Australia to come and see your post.  You need to leave a comment to them on their class page, the location of which is here.

For written language there are two additional tasks this week which are part of the Student Global Blogging Challenge, this is the challenge when we have created work, like your videos/films and used the #2014gbc tag.    You can locate the master page here.

The first is to locate a 'quote' the quote needs to be attributed to a famous New Zealander  or someone who inspired you.  They need to be the persons direct words and need to be recorded with speech marks.   You need to record this in your writing books (draft) have Mrs Chittenden look and edit them and then create a display for the wall that is suitable that features the quote as the feature work.  This needs to be on A4 paper.

The second writing taks for the #2014gbc is to write about a story involving current events.   This was the homework task for last week.  You need to summarise the article making sure that you have covered the main details of the case (W/W/W/W/W/H) and you need to post this on your blog and include in your post name the #2014gbc.

Auroa Primary School: 30/45 Second Movies

Last week in class we had a day to create plan and put together a film about Auroa Primary School. The film had to be thirty to forty five seconds in length and featured a unique aspect of us. The inspiration for this came from Mrs Crains Global Blogging Challenge, #2014gbc. This film created by Meg from Room One and featured some of the technology that is available to students of our school.

Bare feet at Auroa Primary School 2 #2014GBC

This is another 30 to 45 second film from students from Room One, Auroa Primary School on a topic that is unique to our school or our area. Its a film about students at our school having bare feet during most activities! It was planned, scripted, storyboarded and put together by Izzy and Gemma from Room One, with actors provided from Room Four (don't worry none of whom were injured during the filming of this movie). This was created as a piece of visual language as one of the tasks for the #2014GBC. Filmed at Auroa Primary School on Thursday 21st March 2014.

Barefoot at School In Auroa, New Zealand

As part of the #2014gbc (Global Blogging Challenge) we've been asked to create a lesson this week for our global audience.   Yesterday in class the students had to plan a film which was targeted at being between thirty and forty five seconds in length, taught a lesson and reflected something that was unique to New Zealand.   The video was created by Emily, Izzy and Gemma and came about from a comment we've had about our students in New Zealand having bare feet at school.   Planning and storyboarding took place yesterday afternoon and this morning.  The students also fully edited the project and produced it themselves.

#2014gbc Task: About Auroa/Taranaki

As part of our 'About Auroa School (and Taranaki) for the 2014 Global Blogging Challenge our students constructed Haiku Decks about our School, local community and our region. We were inspired by Mrs Kriese Classroom and their Haiku Deck about Austin, Texas. You can click on that link here. This Haiku Deck was created by Fletcher, Riley and Thomas from Room One.
