Y5/6 Rugby League H/L vs. St Jospehs

Yesterday Auroa Primary School competed in the Coastal Y5/6 Rugby League Competition held in Opunake. The first round competition for Auroa saw them taking on St Josephs Opunake in a game that would decide the eventual tournament winner. Auroa are in the purple with orange and St Josephs are in the green. The recording was completed by Rico from Room One, who also provided the commentary and some of the coaching tips. A big thank you for Mr Castle who coached the team and Mr Chittenden who assisted in the running on the day.

Taranaki Survivor 2016: He's back...

Arguably the most untrustworthy player ever to play the game... last season if there was a point when it went all downhill, where the 'Outwit... Outsmart and Outplay...' part of the game took hold... Kikorangi had two leaders who were working together to build a team based - until episode five...  just confirmed today... back for the 2016 season and a second chance at glory or a second chance at infamy... in the greatest internet classroom show of all time!

Rico instigated a removal of the other co-leader the first chance that he got.  Siobhan hadn't put a foot wrong and done everything write for her team... but for Rico it wasn't enough....

He's yet another returning player now confirmed for the 2016 season.

With an oversea's fan club (true!) he's talented and devious - truly one of the most dangerous players around. Can he improve on his 2015 effort? Which if the teams will he end up in?

There's but two days for contestants to have their application videos in before the final selection is made! 

Already confirmed for the 2016 season are Natalie, Ebony, Caro, Jayden and Regan. Confirmed officially today are Rico to be joined by Aroha and Ashley. That leaves only 11 spots up for grabs for potential contestants - which means that some of last years group will  miss out... will Harry step up and come back? Will Bethany the most unlucky player from last season whose game was ended by a single vote try again? Who is still to apply

Taranaki Survivor: Episode 14

Incredibly as it may seem as we are nearing the end of the school year we are also ending the year of various projects, first and foremost amongst them is Taranaki Survivor: which is incredibly already up to episode 14.  There are only seven competitors left at this point, all desperately hoping to make it through to the grand final in the last week of school.  This weeks episode was a auction where the players could use imaginary money to purchase items... would this be a chance to relax? Would this be an elimination episode? There are yet more twists and turns for the competitors as we approach the grand final in a few short weeks! Who would make it through to the next round? Who would fall short? Would there be another immunity idol played? Who would make a big move? All these rhetorical questions might well be answered in episode 14!

Episode Thirteen - Remember when?
We are approaching the end of the year and the end of the greatest competition in online internet classroom blogging Taranaki:Survivor! School in New Zealand ends in five weeks with our school prize giving, school concert and the grand final of Survivor: Taranaki! During the course of the competition there have been 13 eliminations and with idols proving more elusive, with the 'Redemption Idol' having being located twice spots for the contestants and chances to make the final are at a premium.

In this episode, hosted by former contestant Rico, the remaining survivors needed to remember a pattern that Rico would call out and rebuild it in their own space. The challenge took place with up to a ten block sequence.  Contestants had to recall the sequence in order and build their own version returning for a reveal that would send them one step closer towards immunity.  Get it wrong, only once and the challenge would be over.

After this episode one more contestants hopes would be ended leaving a final seven.  Who would step up and recall the facts? Would a hidden immunity idol come into play? How united would the remaining players be? Would the fact that Jorja wasn't present count against her? All these questions would be answered in episode thirteen of the greatest internet blogging competition of all time!

MOA Awards 2015: Best Educational Video

Last night at the Sandfords Events Centre in Opunake, the MOA Kluster Celebrated their 2015 Awards Ceremony. There were a host of awards during the ceremony and there's several posts about the event to come during the next few days. There were some fantastic work on show which we intend showcasing in the coming days. Room Three's work featured in several categories including our nomination for 'Best Educational Video: Intermediate'. This was a group of students: Rico, Mackenna, Jayden, Caro and Jorja who created a model of the Hawera Water Tower in Minecraft and then conducted a virtual tour of the structure. We were very excited that they won the award and their winning video is below:

Taranaki Survivor: Episode Ten

A shock elimination took place in this weeks episode. Since the start of the game there have been four leaders who were running each of the teams. Rico and Siobhan were in charge of Kikorangi, until Rico organised a blind side and had Siobhan voted out. Caro and Mackenna were in charge of Whero, until just before the merge, Whero eliminated Mackenna.

That only left Caro and Rico, who is proving popular with the oversees audience, as the original team leaders. The teams merged and in a shock development one of the two remaining leaders went out in the first merged vote. Would it be Caro? Would it be Rico? Would Caro's domination of her team lead to the others making her a target? Would Rico's popularity and skill in physical challenges mean that for him the end would be near?

Who would be identified as the biggest threat in the game? Who is the most sneakiest? Who would help an old lady across the street? Who do the remaining players think will win the game? 

All these questions answered in episode ten - there's only five weeks to go until the grand finale - who will become the first member of the jury? You can't afford to miss the developments in the most exciting episodic classroom blog challenge competition of all time!

Crowley Cup Vs. St Josephs Opunake Results

Today Auroa Primary School hosted St Josephs Opunake in the final of the Crowley Cup Y5/6 Rugby Competition.

It was an amazing game full of drama.  The score see-sawed, Auroa scoring first before St Jospehs Opunake dominated the game to have a seemingly unbeatable lead - however Auroa finished strongly storming back into contention... the final score was Auroa 40 St Jospehs Opunake 43... an amazing game full of excitement.

Room Three had various students filming and taking highlights, those of which will be posted tonight and tomorrow.  Congratulations to St Jospeh's worthy winners and fantastic champions.  To quote Rico from Room Three: "It was a good game Auroa done well St Joseph's put us to a challenge but unfortunately Auroa lost by 3 points."

Today Mackenna and Rico made a video on Flat Stanley of his adventures in New Zealand.  Starring children from Room 4.  The Flat Stanley was sent to us by Hopwood School in England.

Auroa Primary School: Best Senior Blog Post - Week 10.

This week is the start of the second week of the New Zealand School holidays.  The students of Auroa Primary School will be returning to school for our second term on Monday 20th April.  Thank you all for the comments that we've received during the holiday break, we really appreciate them and will be responding when we return to school.  A number of our students have continued to post in their own time during the school holidays about all manner of topic.  You can read about our local area by clicking on the link to Kyahs or Caro's Blogs here.   You can look at the recipes that Ebony has been creating.  If you want to see some of Rico's fantastic art click on the link here.  Bethany has been involved in the Pacific Rim Basketball Tournament in Tauranga, where she represented Taranaki.  You can see images of the tournament and read about it here.

During the final week of Term One we had our regular award for best Senior Blog Post for Week Ten.   This was awarded to Caleb from Room Two.  Caleb has posted regularly this year and just started using a GoPro to show off some of his adventures with his Motorbike.  You can click on the link to his student blog here.

Rico's iMovie Exploits

Recently we've had some students from Room Three involved in some fantastic activities. This has meant that some students have been managing their time in some creative ways. Rico has been completed iMovies of some of the activities he has been taking part in. His first movie is of his visit to the Sky Tower in Auckland.
