On Tuesday 5th July Auroa School had four seperate finals in the same day. Wins in the Y5/6 Crowley Cup Netball Competition against Rahotu School and a further win against Eltham School in Y5/6 Rugby Crowley Cup were a fantastic start - there were two additional finals that night in the Opunake Basketball Competition. Auroa's Y7/8 Basketball team won their final match, against Rahotu.
The final game of the day was the Y5/6 A Grade Basketball Finals in the Opunake Basketball Competition. Auroa's Y5/6 team were undefeated throughout the season at this point - coming up against their arch rivals, St Joseph from Opunake. The game was another epic featuring some of the players who had played already that day in a final, and against each other in the epic Crowley Cup Semi-Final in Boys Rugby which Auroa win.

The Basketball ended 30-30 which saw sudden death extra time, in which St Jospehs were able to win the match by two points and claim the season championship.

R3 Crowley Cup Highlights Part One

This game was an epic.
Despite the conditions both teams played attacking rugby which led to a 5-5 all scoreline after ten minutes. This score was retained at half time. The second half saw a furious twenty minutes of competition where neither side could be separated leading to a 5-5 full time score. Then follow sudden death golden point extra time - ten minutes of this saw no further score. A second and final ten minutes period occurred and in the seventh minute of this Auroa School score the winning try. These are some of the first half highlights:

Crowley Cup Vs. St Josephs Opunake Results
Today Auroa Primary School hosted St Josephs Opunake in the final of the Crowley Cup Y5/6 Rugby Competition.
It was an amazing game full of drama. The score see-sawed, Auroa scoring first before St Jospehs Opunake dominated the game to have a seemingly unbeatable lead - however Auroa finished strongly storming back into contention... the final score was Auroa 40 St Jospehs Opunake 43... an amazing game full of excitement.
Room Three had various students filming and taking highlights, those of which will be posted tonight and tomorrow. Congratulations to St Jospeh's worthy winners and fantastic champions. To quote Rico from Room Three: "It was a good game Auroa done well St Joseph's put us to a challenge but unfortunately Auroa lost by 3 points."
Highlights and footage will be appearing here shortly.

Lynski Dravitski: September 19th Highlights - Rugby
These highlights, filmed by Riley M. from Room One are of the Lynski-Dravitski Shield Challenge game between Auroa Primary School and St Josephs Opunake, which took place on Friday 19th September, at St Josephs. The shield is contested each year between Auroa and St Josephs. Auroa were able to win the shield for the first time in 2013 and were looking to defend it for the first time. Following clear wins in Soccer (12-0) and a convincing win in Netball, the Rugby team was looking for a clean sweep. Having only lost this season to St Josephs (Hawera), who we play in the finals of the Taranaki Trophy at Yarrows Stadium this Thursday, Auroa was looking for a solid display. The game in the early stages was dominated by St Josephs who at one time took a twenty point lead.

This video shows the last parts of the second half as Auroa begun to swing control of the game back to themselves. Its our first game of 2014 filmed with different equipment. We are thinking critically about such an exciting game (which ended in a 36-36 draw) and what we could do differently with the filming. Would a tripod have helped? Is it better than when we used an ipad but we couldn't zoom in on the action? What rules would we have for the camera person in future that would help the recording? Riley wasn't expecting to be given the job, circumstances meant it was thrust into his hands, and he filmed the action at St Josephs School, Opunake, on Friday 19th September 2014.Thursday, 26 June 2014
