Mt Spa Soccer Results 2014

Today at Kaponga School, Auroa Primary School claimed a famous double.  Auroa had two teams in the Y5/6 competition, both managed to qualify for the semi-finals, then had to play off against each other.   Rico, Danielle and Riley's team was able to progress through to the final against Opunake Primary School, where they were able to triumph with Caleb scoring a hat-trick.

In the Y7/8 Competition, Auroa again fielded two teams, looking to win a competition that we had not won for fifteen years.   Tom and Michaels team found the going tough but represented the team well, including a legendary goal from Tom against Kaponga, scored from half way.

The real story of the competition came from the other team featuring Keifer, Isabelle, Heavenlee, Logan, Lucas and Captained by Harley (and others).  Pool play saw them defeat Kaponga B 3-0, draw with Matapu School 0-0.  In the final pool game the team played against a strong Rahotu team and lost 0-1.   This meant that qualification for the semi-finals could only occur if other results went Auroa's way.

This duly occurred leaving Auroa to take on top qualifiers, Kaponga 'A' in the semi-finals.  A game that was drawn 0-0 at full time, with numerous chances went to sudden death extra time.  Lucas floated an amazing cross into Logan who drilled the ball first time in the roof of the net.   This meant Auroa were in the final, and had to play against the Rahotu team they'd lost to in pool play.   Logan again proved the difference, striking from just past half way early in the first half.  The strike proved crucial because despite numerous chances  from both teams, including the opportunity for a brace for Logan, the final score remained 1-0, with Auroa claiming the win for the first time since 1999.

EV3 Lego Robotics @ APS

Our students are busy preparing for the 2014 Robocup Competitions, with our regionals now several weeks away.  As part of our preparation the students of Auroa Primary School are very fortunate to have the support of our fabulous PTA group.   We have purchased ten new EV3 Robots for competition which are more advanced than our previous NXT versions.   The video below was created by Heavenlee and Lucille and consists of a brief interview with Mrs Knapman who runs our school robotics program.  We've more details and information to come as we move towards this event.  Filmed, produced and published by Heavenlee and Lucille on Wednesday 14th May 2014.

3d Model of the Third Grade Thinkers.

Brylee and Myself had a math project to complete in our class we had to choose a class anywhere around the world and we choose Third Grade Thinkers, Mrs Essenburg Michigan USA. luckily they responded to our comment and gave us heaps of information and photos of what their classroom looks like.  The students from Auroa Primary then created a 2d model of Mrs Essenburgs class, a 3d model of the class using plastic blocks and the final stage was to use Tinkercad to create a virtual model.  These screenshots are of the girls model.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes - Te Reo.

Our students have been working on planning Te Reo videos, in Maori, for our audience. This is our first effort from two students from Room One, Leila and Heavenlee. They planned, scripted and storyboarded the film before identifying some students to assist them with its production.
