Maori Language Week 2015



 This week it is Maori language week.This video is a Maori hand game called Peke we learnt it in Kapa Haka last year.  We explain how to play in the video.  Check out Caro's blog or Bethany's or Jorja's

This week for Maori Language Week. Mackenna,Ashton and Catherine put a video togther to teach people how to say the emotions in Maori.  We show how to say the emotions in English and Maori.

    I'd say you enjoyed making this Vimeo slideshow, posing for the photographs, expressing the various feelings and doing the voice overs again expressing the different emotions.

    I love how you teach us about the Maori culture. How well do you speak the language. In Ireland we speak English but we learn Irish in school. Like you we learn how to talk about feelings in Irish.

    When we have learned the basic ones we learn more complicated phrases that show emotions. For example instead of saying 'I am happy' (in Irish) we might learn 'I am on the pig's back'! This means to be happy also. We think this must be an old Irish phrase and we are not quite sure why it should mean 'happy', but it makes learning Irish more fun. Keep up the good work.
