R3 Lamb and Calf Day - Supreme Champion

My Lucky Day

On the 13th of October I arrived at Auroa School for Lamb and Calf Day.  My next door neighbour wasn’t there so I waited and waited.   After a while I saw Ashleys car and went over to see her, after a while I saw Alison and Rob with the calves.

I helped get the calves out and tied my calf Honey up took the cover of and brushed her for a very long time then I walked over to the rings and waited for the juniors to finished.   Finally it ended then I had to wait for my number to be called.  Finally I was was called I was at the end waiting waiting finally it was my turn I walk the M and did a circle around the middle peg stopped when I was told then finished.  Mum said that I did it beautiful then it was ribbon time the judge called my number first then more people I can’t remember the order but I first I was so proud.

I was still waiting in line then we started walking it was rearing the judge looked at all calves then my calf.  Then stood in the middle then came back and looked at my calf again then I was told to come in the middle then more people were told I got first place and champion.

Waiting, waiting, “finally” I had to go to the ring where the grand supreme champion judging was.  I lead first I walk up then on a angle then more people lead then we walked in a line and stop the judges looked at all the calves then I was told to come up then Freddie I got grand  supreme champion then I helped put the calf's in the trailer then I did a cartwheel and hit Freddies jaw, fell on my head pretty hard and twisted my neck then we went to Hawara.

Jorja's Lamb and Calf Day Recount

Calf and Lamb Day

We arrived at the gate adrenalin rushed down my spine as I was first to go in my leading, at calf and lamb day, grass ripped up everywhere as the hoofs of the calves and lambs dug into the ground.

I walked my lamb over to the start line and led it round the standard placed there in the grass, my lamb did not like the pulling as it was eager to eat grass.

Poo covered the grass and the scent of sausages and lollies covered the air, I tried not to be distracted as my lamb was next up for calling. The judge grabbed my lamb and unleashed it, my lamb Liquorice just stood there with its head held down and eating grass.

I had a great time at calf and lamb day even my lamb Liquorice did not do very well it was great to see everybody enjoying there day, especially me.

Teachers Note: The biggest day for students of Auroa Primary School is Lamb and Calf Day - students are able to bring either animal to school for show and competition.  Our students wrote recounts about this years event.  This is written by Jorja you can visit her blog by clicking on this link.

Lamb and Calf Day 2014

Thanks so much for your visit to our class blog.  We've just finished the term three holidays for 2014 and students of Auroa Primary School will be returning to school on Monday 13th October 2014.   We've got some massive school events occurring this term as we move towards the end of the year. This coming week we have our 2014 Lamb and Calf Day on Thursday 16th October.  You can follow the link to this amazing event on our school website.  We've also used the fantastic work of Mr Bloor, who produced this brilliant highlights video from the 2013 event.

We will be recording this event when it occurs and will be posting media once the event has occurred.  Stay tuned.

Those of you who are looking to collaborate or communicate with the class we look forward to getting in touch with you this coming week.
