R3 Caris Explains the Wax proces
As part of the process of having Jen from Rotokare Reserve we made Wax traps to record the teeth marks of some of the animals that are around our school. As part of our writing Caris from Room Three wrote about the process.
Wax
The popsicle stick sunk into the wax. The wax set and cooked slowly. The sticks set into the yellow wax. The wax was lukewarm before Georgia stuck the wax in the ground. The wax should attract the pests and be able to identify the teeth marks.

R3 Rotokare Educator Visit
This week we were lucky to have an educator from Rotokare Education Centre, visit us and work with each of the classroom to learn about how to track life around our school. We created pit traps and tracking stations and we able to put these all around our school. It was an amazing experience and we are looking forward to our Rotokare visit later this term.

R3 Modelled in Minecraft!
We've started looking at Measurement and measuring to scale in class. As part of the activities associated with this we've had some of the students modelling our classroom in Minecraft - not as easy as some of the students thought that it might be. These screen shots were provided by Brock from Room Three who worked on the project in his own time...
Left: Room Three as seen from the outside area. Don't worry we have lots of classrooms and other parts of the school around us!
Left: Room Three from the inside - as modelled by Brock from Room Three. Does this look like the inside of our classroom? What features can you see that are around the classroom? Where is your desk? What has Brock got right and what does he need to adjust?

R3 Nadiths Bike Saftety Explanation
Bike safety
People ride bikes everyday. Some people don’t ride them properly and don’t use it properly.
The parts of a bike are the frame, wheels, chain, seat, handlebar, tyres, brakes, light, pedals, reflector and spokes.
Helmets are the most important thing you need when you are riding a bike. To fit a helmet you need two fingers under your chin and one your forehead.
There different fines for different things you do no your bikes. If you don’t wear a helmet when riding a bike it is a $55 fine, and if you ride your bike on the footpath it is also a $55 fine too.
If there is a bike or a car in front of you you need to be one bike length away.
Lots of different signs on the road, so you need to be careful. If there is a stop sign in front of you, you lift your right hand on a 90 degree angle. Then put your left or right hand straight. If you are at intersection and you are going straight, you don't need to do any hand you are going straight, you don't need to do any hand signal. Now you know how to ride a bike so get on your bike and ride it. Don't forget to wear your helmet.

Mathematical Problem Solving in Room Three
This is the problem that our Maths class worked on yesterday. Are you able to replicate the problem and then solve the six answers? If you need help you can view the videos and time lapse photography that was created by the students in Room Three this week!
We really enjoyed this problem and worked collaboratively with others in our group to come up with the solution! Eventually we were able to make sure that we could answer all six questions and then we helped each other to make sure we were all successful.
This video with solutions to the problem above was created by Mackenna and Hayley.
